Tessa & George contacted me to book in a family session for them and baby Wilfred while they were holidaying in Byron. I get a lot of families that do a shoot while they are here on holidays, it’s such an awesome way to capture you all while you’re relaxed, leaving behind the daily grind, in the sunshine and getting that vitamin sea… everyone is all round happy and I love a good salty family!
One of the coolest things about your stay in Byron is that you will most likely be staying pretty close to town and the beach. Which means we can do some of your shoot at your accomodation starting out and then head out to another outdoor location, win win! This adds dynamic in your photos and helps to change the scenery for kids that are itching to get out and play.
So that’s what we did.. Starting out at the always awesome Bask & Stow, I was able to get some snuggly, intimate shots of this fresh fam. After about 45 minutes we drove to Watego’s beach and did some frolicking at the most easterly point if Australia. The sun slowly shifted over the mountains and we were blessed with the most glorious afternoon light we could have wished for.
One of the main reasons that I love this little spot for photoshoots is the dynamic. There are big hills, rocks and pandanus trees. Your view is looking back over to Byron. Little Wategos is fairly secluded which is seriously the best thing for beating the crowds and let’s not forget that magic ocean!
These guys opened up to me, they allowed themselves to be comfortable and just be in the moment, forgetting that I was there. They sat on the rocks and chatted, relished in their precious baby boy, and I honestly believe that all of these things helped to let their world shine through in the photos and it turned out one of my fave shoots to date!
